The Wedding of Mace Jennings & Tim Olech

About the Couple

On November 1st, 2016, Tim and Mace met outside Gulu-Gulu Cafe in Salem, Massachusetts for their first date. They were supposed to meet inside, but Tim had arrived an hour early because he was nervous, and Mace was expecting him to be waiting outside, so they both spent about fifteen minutes wondering if they’d been stood up– just one hundred feet away from each other.

Thankfully, Tim decided it might be a good idea to check outside, and found Mace sitting in one of the lawn chairs looking over an impromptu poem she penned in a book of love poetry she’d just bought:

Come inside, my little bird, and rest against my shoulder
for life’s full of tomorrows, and we grow ever older.

Six years later, about a month after accepting Tim’s proposal, Mace presented Tim with the ring they’d just picked out for him in the exact same location, outside Gulu-Gulu Cafe. Nine years later, they are thrilled to invite you to join them for the happy occasion that will consolidate their anniversaries in a very convenient (and romantic) way.

FAQs

What’s for dinner?

Dinner will be served buffet-style with separate options for those with gluten intolerances, nut allergies, and vegetarian/pescatarian preferences– if you have a food allergy/preference you would like us to be aware of, please reach out to us directly!

Is there a wedding registry?

Yes! There is no obligation to do so, but if you are feeling generous, please see our registry here!

What should I wear?

Dressy semi-formal/whatever makes you feel comfortable and your very best! We recommend being mindful of November weather in New England and of the Gardens’ lovely but very grassy terrain– we are certain you will look just as wonderful in sensible shoes as you would in stilettos!

When is the RSVP deadline?

Please RSVP by September 30th 2025, so we may get an accurate headcount!

Is the ceremony indoors or outdoors?

The ceremony and cocktail hour will take place outside, and the reception will be held in a tent. We enthusiastically encourage everyone to explore the beautiful grounds, but there is also a small cottage on-site for anyone who would prefer to step out of the New England weather, whatever that may be.

Where should I park?

Guest parking is located around the back of the venue– please reference the map included in your invitation!

Can I take pictures?

You are welcome to take all the photos you like during the cocktail hour and reception, but please refrain from using your phones during the ceremony.

“If I see one phone, I’m stopping the wedding and calling you out and that is a promise”
-Mace

Are masks required?

Masks are not required, as the guest list is under 40 people, but you are more than welcome to mask if it would make you feel comfortable!

We ask that if you have tested positive for COVID-19 prior to the wedding, that you refrain from attending unless you have recovered and tested negative. If you are still not recovered by the wedding, please reach out to us! We will come up with a way for you to be involved from a distance.
